I wonder if David Allen has ever encountered Robert Benchley’s article “How to get things done”, which espouses the same technique of getting things done by avoiding other things that need to be done. It was originally published a number of years ago — I believe about 1930 — but is now available on line, though possibly without the Williams illustrations.
✅ David Allen, this is exactly what I need today to better wage a wise warfare (in my mind) & also to be dressed for battle each day, equipped with GTD weaponry (in a practical way) to identify & make Procrastination weep.
David said:
“But isn’t this all in your head? ..well, you ever avoid something? And then you avoid it and avoid it? But when you finally had to get involved— it flowed & went smooth!”
“So why did you freak yourself out? Because you freaked yourself out!”
“Your nervous system cannot tell the difference between freak out thoughts & reality.” ?
