  • Projects/Actions on IPAD

I need some ideas, I use the GTD softwear on my computer/outlook. however, I take my IPAD where ever I go. Any idea on how to move my Project/Action list onto my IPAD so it is with me?

I switched to Omnifocus for the iPad as my main system for just this reason. And I LOVE IT!

          GTD Add-in vs Omnifocus

          Barb,
I am tied to Outlook at work as my email system and have used the GTD add-in but have mixed opinions about it. You did the same but changed to Ominifocus for iPAD. Why do you like Omnifocus better? Do you integrate it with Outlook somehow or use it as a standalone list manager?

            More info

I consider myself tied to Outlook too because I like it for email, calendar and contacts. I used the GTD Add-in for about 6 years and, before that, had it configured for GTD according to the Davidco whitepaper (I've been practicing GTD for 10+ years.)

When I got an iPad I saw an opportunity to move around more freely without my laptop. My Outlook calendar, contacts, and notes sync with it beautifully but not the tasks. I had heard SO MUCH about Omnifocus that I decided to take a look at the app. I had a bunch of questions, so I emailed customer service and told them what I planned to do (you can also call them and discuss it.)

Omnifocus for the iPad is strictly a list/project manager so it closes the loop in my system. If I want to turn an email into a task from my computer, I send it to a special Omnifocus address. I then open that email on my iPad, tap it, and it opens as a task in Omnifocus! It takes just seconds. So I keep my computer to my left while I'm working and my iPad is in the center of my main desk--ready to go--at all times. I sync it with Omni's own server which, by the way, keeps OF on my iPhone synced wirelessly as well. For me, there is no down side AT ALL! Omnifocus is SO well-thought out and their service is without equal!

If you are at all interested, call and chat with them. Believe me, I was skeptical. And now I am probably their biggest cheerleader. But I'm still not going to dump my pc and get a Mac. Maybe someday, but not now.

P.S. this might be a great solution for those who are nervous about keeping their personal GTD system on their work computer as well. I see no reason (other than the cost of the iPad) that this wouldn't solve that age-old problem!

              Thanks!

This is exactly what I wanted to know! I enjoy my iPAD and iPhone but have struggled to effectively work with them and Outlook. Evernote is a great tool that crosses platforms but I find it cumbersome as a list manager. When Omnigroup cut the price of Ominfocus, I decided to give it a try! I appreciate the guidance. Thanks!

Might want to take a look at Appigo ToDo Exchange Tasks

I've not used Appigo's Exchange Tasks application; however I'm a long-time user of their ToDo iPad and iPhone applications which have been solid for me. On windows, Toodledo web is my "go between". From Appigo's their website...

Todo® Exchange Tasks app is the most powerful way to access your Microsoft® Exchange tasks. Exclusively designed for business, use Todo Exchange to securely create, update, and manage your to-do lists wherever you are. Todo Exchange automatically connects to your Exchange server when you launch and exit the app so your tasks stay up to date on your iPhone and Outlook client.

Hope you find something that works for you. I quit using Outlook for tasks and starting keeping all my project todos and tasks on my mobile devices long ago. For me, it was just easier given work computer restrictions.

                B

                Might be worth a look.

I love Evernote for storing reference materials and checklists, but I too cannot imagine using it as a list manager. Some people love it, though.

I don't like futzing too much with my list manager. I want something that does everything I need it to do and isn't "rinky dink." Fabulous customer service is also important to me. In looking over all the freebie or very inexpensive iPad options out there, I just didn't see a long term solution for me...until OF. But again...that's me and MY needs...I hope you'll call and speak with Customer Service just like I did. They (and I) want you to have a wonderful experience with their product, I'm sure.

                  Best of luck!

TaskTask HD syncs tasks from iPad/iPhone to Exchange

I have settled on TaskTask HD. My company uses Outlook 2007 and Exchange. TaskTask syncs up and supports Folders, Categories, Reminders, Repeating Tasks better than any other app I have tried.

I dropped the GTD add in due to incompatibility, and synchronization problems. But I set up the same Categories such as @Office, @Home, @Agendas. I use Folders for projects and TaskTask is the only app I found that keeps everything sync'ed properly.

iMExchange supports tasks but not as flexible. However iMExchange supports Outlook Notes which TaskTask does not.
