  • Find all outlook items related to subproject

Maybe I am missing the obvious...

I'd like to be able to find all (or a particular type) of outlook items related to a specific subproject that i set up using the latest gtd. Of course, outlook does not have a provision for searching "custom fields". I could write code to do it. Does anyone see a better way??

I don't use the GTD add-in, but I accomplish this with categories. Simply have a category for each project or subproject.

Outlook also supports multiple categories per item, so you can sort by either project or context (for instance).

You might also take a look at the options under "Customize Current View," where you'll find some powerful sorting and filtering tools.

      Have you looked in

The advanced find and then the advanced tab. There is an option to search user-defined fields?

Another alternative, for the future, is to incorporate the project name into the task, appointment, email or note. There are a couple of threads about how people put it at the start or finish of a task.

        Project tasks and subtasks

How can we find all project tasks and subtasks in a outline format with custom field view? We can use category field as project name, do you use the same category name for all tasks or subtasks?

Which one is better to use contact as project or just use task as project? I read many discussion on this but don't know which method is best to meet my needs. For now I use KeySuite for my Palm syncronization, and I found out to use contact as project is better fit to this Palm application. Any good advice as for Palm syncroization for projects?

Why go to the extreme of spending time writing code? Download Google Desktop and you are on your way. This will search your personal hard drive for all relevant topics or keywords, and show complete thread no matter where file is located. If it is Outlook, the program gives you the option to view in Outlook, subsequently opening the program. Too simple, but unbelieveably effective.
