  • Software that can do GTD

I want to know what programs out there can successfully implement GTD including Project Next Actions being pushed through into your Todo list.

Anyone got some thoughts on what to look at?

    Thanks,

    Jon

I've used ResultsManager (based on Mindmanager), the GTD Add-in for Outlook, Kinkless GTD (Mac software , needs OmniOutliner), and various other hacks (text files with AutoHotKey macros, MS Excel spreadsheet, and Outlook). There's one called "My Life Organized" that I believe is based on GTD. (I don't have the links to these tools, but you shld be able to Google them out).

My tool of choice is Zoot (http://www.zootsoftware.com). Its feature set is best summarized as "Outlook on steroids", but the main reason I use it is because it lets me GTD *faster*. Its design follows the "capture first organize later" paradigm that makes it incredibly unintrusive to work with. Highly recommended, for GTD and more.

Natara's Bonsai Palm & Desktop outlining program is popular for managing projects. I noticed that Natara is working on a major upgrade that is in beta presently. It appears that they're including filtering for next actions for us GtD'ers. More info in Natara's forum at http://www.natara.com/forums/. My guess is that this upgrade will be available sometime in December.

I currently use Pocket Informant for the Pocket PC. Are they going to bring out a Bonzai version for the Pocket PC format?

Anyone know if PI is going to do a Next Action feature?

All of Natara's software has been for PalmOS. Recently they converted one of their most popular apps to PPC and hinted that other apps may follow. I would guess they would try to do Bonsai sooner rather than later due to its popularity however due to the complexity I don't think we'll see anything for quite a while.

Jon, I would take a look at Ecco Pro which can be downloaded at:

            ftp://ftp.netmanage.com/support/pub/.../EC401/Ecco32/

and a template that I created that mimics the GTD process. My latest version can be found at:

            http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eccopro/files/

The file you want is GTD WU1_7.ect

              GTD Software

If you're a Mac (and/or Windows and/or Palm handheld) user, one of the best is Life Balance. Go to
              http://www.llamagraphics.com

and look at this pdf guide for setting it up
              http://www.actionable.org/LB.Templat...%20Balance.pdf

I suggest instead of using a separate place for someday maybes, that you put them under a heading and set its importance slider to zero. That way nothing under the heading will show up on your to-do list, but you don't have to fiddle with the places for each item and can make a project active again just by dragging it out.

Go to the llamagraphics forums and search for GTD for lots of useful posts.

You will find a lot about LB on this forum as well.

Another possibility with the Palm or any software is connecting Next Actions and Projects using the pigpog method. Go to the 43folders wiki for more info on this:
              http://wiki.43folders.com/index.php/PigPog

Kinless GTD is the most promising

I have jsut started working with Kinkless, a scripting plug-in for OmniOutliner. Both are Mac specific, but even if you are not on a Mac the website is worth a visit and a look [www.kinkless.com]. No scripting experience is necessary - just use the templates - and the interface is great - like all OmniGroup stuff.

There is a QuickTime Movie that explains the app and how to implement it and just watching it will give Windows users an idea of what is possible.

Bonus - the author has a great sense of humor that is imbedded in the how-to and read me files.

I wish they had something similar for Windows users: the Next Actions facility and a beautiful interface.

                    MyLifeOrganized.

Besides the Next Action facility, it has a score of other features useful for getting things done.

                    The interface is extremely fast.

New version of MyLife Organized has been just released (1.5.01). It includes GTD oriented templates! Try it.

                              Hi!

Some time ago I decided that it was the time to change the way I organize my to do lists. It becomed rather hard to keep track of all my activities and all the notes i was making through the day.
But i discovered a great way to keep me organized. It's very easy to use and you'll have quicly access to your notes. You can keep track of anything that crosses your mind.
I hope this will work for you to. The application is called SunnyNotes and you can see what is all about on the next address: http://www.sunnynotes.com
