  • GTD software for a small company?

    Hi all

I am learning my way around GTD and researching the helper tools. My partner and I run an incredibly busy service website where the name of the game is to stay on top of things and being able to take over where another person left off. We need a shared contact management and calendar software that is web based (we're on different continents) and has emailing capability so all records are kept in one central place. None of the web apps we've looked at has integrated email

Any pointers will be much appreciated!

Thanks everybody and keep up the good work.

    A.

    Yahoo! Cal

Try Yahoo! Calendar. I dunno how's with sharing tasks but it's got the possibility to have a shared calendar (with appointments and other cal related stuff).

there're on the interweb other tools like zimbra (similar to outlook but it's web 2.0 app) or www.kiko.com (never tried), www.airset.com (never tried) or www.calendarhub.com among others. try to google for web2.0 calendaring apps and you'll get tons of tools.

    greets,

oops, seems like i haven't read your post through. for your needs zimbra is most suitable. as i mentioned it's outlook-like app, so with integrated mail client, too. notes, tasks, cal sit there as well.

        Thank you & summary

Thank you for the links mackubat! I will do my research and post a summary here when done for other folks to peruse.

If anyone else has other suggestions, you may want to email them to me directly. Either way is fine, I suppose.

Right on. We've been using Relenta for three months now. It is a great tool for getting things done indeed.

Relenta isn't very strong in terms of helping you prioritizing tasks, but it definitely keeps things from slipping through the cracks when it comes to customer service and client account management, which makes it an ideal application for service businesses such as ours.

Another drawback is that aside from notes and reminders, Relenta doesn't have much by way of project management features. But we're using a "Contacts as Projects" hack (along the lines of http://www.davidco.com/forum/showthr...tacts+projects) and it works well.

Overall, if I had to rate it, I'd give Relenta 4.5 stars out of 5.

            Hope this helps!

            Mikey

              Relenta

which email client did you use? I could not set it up with gmail, yahoo mail, or my ISP. The spam control was one problem.

                Relenta

You don't need an email client to use Relenta - it has integrated webmail (which is excellent, BTW). We had no problem setting it up to read email from both Yahoo! and Gmail accounts, plus several others. At this point we're picking up email from five or six POP and IMAP accounts. All you need is three pieces of information: 1. Server/host name, 2. Username, and 3. Password - the same as setting up desktop email client - this shouldn't be difficult at all.

You can also add several SMTP accounts to send email, but our outgoing email volume isn't huge so we're OK with just one SMTP for now.

Our experience with Relenta support was superb, they're knowledgeable and responsive, so why not give it a shot?

                M.
