  • Am I doing GTD right?

I collected an idea during mind sweep: to sort all books into interesting to re-read and reference. The outcome is a list of books I'd like to re-read. The next action would be to sort out shelf A. The problem is I'm not sure I really want to spend my time doing this boring and possibly not needed in the future activity. Should I delete it from my action and project list then?

Decide if you want to do it during the next week.

You have to decide if you want to do it during the next week. If not - move it to the Someday/Maybe list.

      Someday/Maybe for that

Put it in someday maybe for now. Something may change that makes it a higher priority for you (guests coming, moving, bookshelf collapsed under the weight of the books ) Once you are sure you want to do it you'll still have all the detail you have currently thought of.

        boring

I think "boring" is a key word here. If you genuinely want the outcome, doing the Next Actions is invigorating, not tedious... as a general rule, anyway. This has been my own experience, though I may be unusual in that regard.

You may want to reread those books but you may not want to sort the shelf. If you are find with having the books stacked up in no particular order, then there is no obligation to sort them at all.

Remember, GTD is about implementing the things that you want different so you can relax about them.
