  • Can someone suggest a filing cabinet?

Am trying to implement the system and have gone to Sam's, Costco, and IKEA but haven't quite found a good filing cabinet.

Does anyone have any suggestions or brands that have worked?

    Thanks

Try an office supply store like Staples or Office Depot/Max.

      Just a hunch - PublicSurplus.com

I have seen them on PublicSurplus.com Government entities are always selling office furniture really cheap. Do a search within 20 or 50 miles of your home zip code and, if you're lucky, you'll find an auction for one. If you find a nearby city, county or school that uses that service, you might be able to contact them to see if they will be posting one for sale soon that meets your specifications . These are used, of course, but I've seen some in great shape.
      Good luck!

For my home office, I figured that I was serious about filing paper. I wanted to avoid those little 2-drawer, ~15-inch deep models that you can buy in any discount store for $20.

About 20 years ago, I went to an office supply store and spent several hundred dollars on a new Steelcase, 5-drawer, letter-size, 28.5-inch deep file cabinet with metal glides and bearings that support the drawers. By the time I was done with 5 metal frames for hanging folders (sorry, Dave), the hanging folders themselves, a bunch of manila file folders, and sales tax, I had spent about $500 in 1991.

I still have the file cabinet. I have been completely satisfied with this purchase, and I expect that it is durable enough to last more than my lifetime. When I run out of room (soon!), I will either have to do a better job of purging old stuff or find more room in the house for another Steelcase file cabinet.

No, I don't work for Steelcase. I'm just a satisfied customer.

I got a great used HON 3 drawer lateral file used for $199 last year. I can't remember how much they were new, but it was double or triple. I went for a two drawer but came home with a three drawer.

Down side is that I have to use the hanging files (I had plenty) but the upside is that at home it's not deep like a traditional file cabinet is so it fits into my home office better.

I just googled used office equipment and found a place nearby.
