  • unorthodox use of tickler file

A tickler file is not my primary system. I only need to use it on occasion. It seems easier for me to keep the date/day folders "static" rather than rotate them. So far, nothing has been misplaced or forgotten.

Does anyone else use it like this?

Mine is fixed like a book so I cannot rotate them. It works fine for me. If you needed a reminder, you could clip a bulldog clip to the date you are on, then you would know when you last checked it. If you use it infrequently you could also check forward a week at your weekly review to see what is coming up.

      Mine also fixed

Mine is also a book style, the days are in front and the months behind and so far it works for me.

        eStatic

Mine is in Evernote. Each tickled items get the date also added and then it syncs to appear on my calendar.

So, no rotations for me either and I can do multiple years in advance. Kinda freaks people out when you 'remember' something over a year later

How do you get the items to post to your calendar using Evernote?

I use TuskTools Calendar on my PC. This seamlessly syncs my Evernote to my Google Calendar.

                Hi, Curtis!

If static is working for you, that's the important part. I need to trick my brain into staying productive on a daily basis, though. So, I rotate mine as a trigger for the day. If it's not on the right date, I've missed something. It also helps me to remember that once I get into the late 20s (28th, 29th etc), it's time to dump the upcoming month's goodies into the system. But I have to see it to remember it. That said, on average I only have 15-20 items that go into the tickler in any given month, so managing tickler contents is never overwhelming.

That's what works for me, but there's no right way.
