  • Differentiating outcomes vs projects

The playground equipment at my work location is now considered a liability due to recent safety regulation changes.

Sometimes I get a little confused between how to title/name an outcome and how to title a project.

For the outcome, should my list be titled: Maintain a safe play environment for all children at the facility or would the outcome be written as replace or repair equipment??

And since the play equipment will have to be updated or replaced, should the project read: repair or replace equipment?

    Hi Curtis,

If this were my project, I would list the project as "Replace or Repair..." and the Area of Focus "Maintain a safe play..."

I would tend to assume that removing the hazard is likely more important than replacing the play functionality. So I'd probably name the project something like "Eliminate play equipment hazard". Maybe you repair, maybe you replace, maybe you remove the hazardous equipment and leave remaining non-hazardous items in place, maybe you get rid of or block off the play area entirely.
