  • I pledge! (or the GTD buddy system)

I decided that I need a little psychological support from fellow GTDers to improve my GTD skills.

I have been doing the system on and off for the past 2-2,5 years, and I am just now beginning to realize how fluid and intuitive (really!) it is.

I want others to post here, in this thread, about what you want to accomplish about the system this week and in the coming weeks. Knowing that you are not alone and that others are trying to implement many of the same mechanisms I believe can tremendously boost your energy and help you zero in on a particular aspect of the system.

I know this might sound silly, but I want to call it a "trick" a la tricks that David shares in his books.

    So here goes!

I pledge that this week I will do a rather extensive mindsweep as part of my weekly review -- I will really take my time and try to think of ANY and ALL possible open loops that are still out there, uncaptured and undefined.
In fact, I won't do much of anything else today (Sunday) BUT work on this.

I will post here next Saturday to share how it went and what results this exercise produces.

The mind sweep leading to next action management

I pledge that this week I will do a rather extensive mindsweep as part of my weekly review -- I will really take my time and try to think of ANY and ALL possible open loops that are still out there, uncaptured and undefined.
We give time to do this in seminars. Usually, I have about 10 minutes for seminar participants to "Mind Sweep." Then, later that morning, about 20 minutes to process.

Over and over again, most people have 40+ items on their "collection" list; and, I've seen a lot of people completely process that inventory by EOS (end of seminar). The ah-ha: It doesn't take that long to collect and process. Oh, and all the people are using paper-lists at this point of the seminar...

Later most days, people start "catching" the sophisticated simplicity of the Next Action/Successful Outcome system; of course, they always ask about technological tools to manage all this thinking. I answer as many questions as I can, give as many examples as I can, and...I try and provide as much info as possible.

Here's an article on using a PDA to manage next actions...

      Anyone want to buddy?

If anyone wants to try buddying up, contact me back-channel. I think it could be a really good idea.
