  • Someday/Maybe in Outlook: Logistics

I am trying to set up a better way to record someday/maybe items. I use a paper system - my organizer - for everything else and it works great, since I've customized my system for over a year now. However, my someday/maybe list is getting very long and is not as clear anymore. I want to use Outlook and its folder capabilities. What is the best way to record items to s/m? With tasks or with notes? Can I use a combo or is that too complex?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I use outlook notes for things like:
    - Books to Read
    - Gifts Ideas for People
    - Songs to Learn on the Guitar

I use someday/maybe as an outlook task category for things like:
    - Build a Treehouse
    - Reframe Artwork

With the Outlook Add-in, they have a really cool featuer where you can drag and drop projects and actions back and forth between active projects/actions to someday/maybe. It's really slick.

But you are using paper, so that wouldn't work so much for you.

    Hope that helps.

I have an Outlook Category for each of my main areas of focus - e.g. Family, Health, Personal Finance, Sales, Marketing, Personal Development etc.

I use these categories in Outlook to categorize both my projects, tasks and also someday/maybes. I find it easy then to view these at different levels as I want to when doing a weekly or quarterly review.

Thank you! I didn't want to make it more complex than it should be.

I used notes to record some lists of resources for outsourcing, for example, and tasks to record some actions I want to do s/m. I need to transfer and group my written someday/maybe list from my paper organizer that way too. I go through the list at least weekly and find myself actively and sometimes subconsciously finishing some of those items. The categories and lists would really make that easier since I can combine a few related items listed there when I open a project.

Aside from the @contexts, I also have subject groupings such as Admin, Customers, Marketing/Selling, Web/Ecommerce, Development (personal and business). I need the groupings, since I need to make sure I do something from every group and not just that which I enjoy the most or can accomplish best (my biggest problem in the past). Outlook allowed me to link those into it as well.

Hmmm, maybe I need to move to an electronic version...

          Exactly what I do, too.
