I lost my book!

By Jeff Tidwell – community contributor

I’m an analog sort of GTD guy. I work from a small 3-ring binder with home-made tabs organizing my lists and inspiration. I’ve tried a few digital organizers, my iPhone, Outlook lists, Google documents, etc. and have always come back to this handy notebook.

I recently (Gasp!) lost my notebook. Somehow it didn’t freak me out. Perhaps because I have lost it a few times in the past and have always found it an opportunity to revisit everything all over again from the ground up.

I dug out a workbook from one of the seminars I attended a few years ago to help me in the reconstruction process. The good news is that the fundamental 50,000 foot-Runway views hadn’t changed much. It was actually fun to see what had changed and what was constant.

So if you lose your lists and feel like you’ve been dropped in a Twilight Zone episode of disorganization, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s an opportunity to look at your game and where you’re headed. My new notebook is now refreshed and reconstructed and I haven’t missed a beat.

  1. Jeff,

A friend of mine also uses an analog planner. To help him remember to not misplace it, he stashed a hundred dollars in a hidden pocket. Only he knows its there.

    He’s never lost it.
